Abstract

Place making adalah sebuah konsep  bahwa mendesain sebuah kota selayaknya berpusat pada manusia, bukan pada fasilitas kota yang selama ini dianggap sebagai standart kebutuhan kota menjadi sebuah kota moderen. Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan peran sebuah ruang publik pada kawasan pemukiman moderen bagi masyarakat sekitarnya, terutama pada masa pandemik yang menekankan pentingnya sosial distancing namun tetap menuntut terpenuhinya kepuasan emosional sehubungan tingginya tekanan kehidupan yang menyertai kondisi pendemik. Danau BSB adalah fasilitas lingkungan yang berfungsi selalin sebagai pencegah banjir bagi lingkungan pemukiman di Bukit Semarang Baru (BSB) namun juga sangat berfungsi sebagai tempat rekreasi bagi masyarakat kota Semarang. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa mapping, wawancara dan fotografi. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan beberapa penyesuaian perilaku sehubungan dengan tempat-tempat publik yang sejak awal memiliki multi fungsi baik secara teknis lingkungan berkelanjutan maupun lingkungan sosial yang sangat berpengaruh dan memiliki kekuatan place making yang teris menguat dari hari ke hari.
