PENERAPAN METODOE DISKUSI KELOMPOK TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR IPA PADA SISWA KELAS IV UPT SD NEGERI 143 LUMBAN TONGA-TONGA

The learning outcomes, especially in the Natural Sciences (IPA) subject of grade IV students of UPT SD Negeri 143 Lumban Tonga-Tonga are still relatively low, marked by minimal active participation and understanding of scientific concepts. This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes using the group discussion method. The study is included in the Classroom Action Research (CAR) type which consists of two cycles. The subjects of the study were 25 grade IV students. The tool used to collect data was learning outcome questions/tests. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase: the average value of learning outcomes increased from 64.2 in the pre-cycle to 74.8 in Cycle I, and reached 85.7 in Cycle II. Learning completeness also increased, from 40% (10 students completed) in the pre-cycle to 68% (17 students) in Cycle I, and reached 92% (23 students) in Cycle II. These results prove that the group discussion method is appropriate to be used to improve students' science learning outcomes. The implication is that the discussion-based cooperative learning process can be used as an alternative in making the learning atmosphere in the classroom active and constructive in elementary schools.References
