Aplikasi Penentuan Dosen Pembimbing Skripsi menggunakan Metode Analytic Hirarchy Process (AHP)

Abstract

The process of determining thesis supervisors in higher education is often done manually and subjectively, potentially causing an imbalance in the supervision load and a mismatch between the lecturer's field of expertise and the student's research topic. This problem indicates the need for an objective, measurable, and transparent decision-making system. This study aims to design and implement a Decision Support System (DSS) based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to assist the faculty in optimally determining thesis supervisors. The study was conducted at the Faculty of Computer Science, Santo Thomas Catholic University using a case study approach and data collection methods through observation, interviews, and documentation studies of the ongoing academic process. The assessment criteria used included academic expertise, functional position, last education, and length of service of the lecturer. The AHP model was applied to generate priority weights for each criterion, with a consistency ratio (CR) calculation of 0.08 indicating that the decision-making model is consistent and valid. The results of the system implementation showed an increase in decision-making time efficiency of 95.8% and a level of conformity between the system results and manual decisions of 88%. Furthermore, there was an even distribution of the supervisory workload and an increase in the match between student research topics and the lecturers' areas of expertise, from 70% to 92%. Thus, the application of the AHP method in the DSS has been proven to increase the objectivity and effectiveness of the thesis supervisor selection process and can serve as a basis for the development of a broader academic decision support system in the future.
