Cabangisan [email protected]
This study explores the pivotal role of the pneumatological paradigm in shaping the priesthood within a synodal Church context, emphasizing its potential to cultivate a culture of encounter. Grounded in theological inquiry and pastoral reflection, the study investigates how a pneumatologically informed understanding of priesthood to facilitate transformative encounters marked by authenticity, dialogue, and communion. By delving into the dynamics of pneumatological interpretation and its implications to the church, the research sheds light on the profound ways in which the Holy Spirit animates and guides the Church towards greater unity and mission. Through its exploration of the hermeneutics of the pneumatological paradigm, this study seeks to contribute to ongoing conversations within ecclesiology, offering insights into how pneumatic priesthood can effectively engage in the synodal journey towards a more vibrant and inclusive Church community.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6774 READING THE “POLITICAL” IN JÜRGEN MOLTMANN’S THEOLOGY OF THE CROSS THROUGH HANNAH ARENDT’S CONCEPT OF INTER-ESSE 2026-07-21T05:20:45+00:00 Cao van Bang [email protected]
This article investigates how the meaning of “the political” in Jürgen Moltmann’s theology of the Cross can be reinterpreted through Hannah Arendt’s concept of inter-esse. Against the backdrop of twentieth-century political violence and the resurgence of political theology, the study situates Moltmann’s theology of the Cross as a powerful critique of political monotheism and sacralized authority, while engaging Arendt’s philosophical account of politics as a relational space constituted through human plurality, speech, and action. Methodologically, the article employs a critical and constructive hermeneutical dialogue between Moltmann’s trinitarian theology and Arendt’s political theory, combining close textual analysis with conceptual reinterpretation. The analysis demonstrates that Moltmann primarily understands the political as a divine critique of idolatrous power revealed in the crucifixion as a political execution and Trinitarian event of suffering solidarity. Reading this framework through Arendt’s notion of inter-esse expands the political meaning of the Cross from a deconstructive critique into a constitutive reality. The article argues that the Cross creates a “cruciform public space” in which human plurality is re-founded through solidaristic action and transformative speech. The study concludes that this cruciform inter-esse offers a constructive political vision for Christian praxis, redefining power as relational, participatory, and oriented toward justice and the common good.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6775 THE IMPLICATION OF THE MAGISTERIUM ON THE GROWTH OF INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE 2026-07-21T05:42:29+00:00 Megawati Naibaho [email protected] Jeganathan Yesudoss [email protected] Antonius Sipahutar [email protected] Yohanes Anjar Donobakti [email protected]
This research addresses the main questions: what magisterial teachings can be applied to building interreligious dialogue, why it is necessary to realize these teachings to build interreligious dialogue and universal brotherhood, and what challenges are faced in realizing interreligious dialogue. Based on these questions, the objectives of this research are to examine the Magisterium's teachings on interreligious dialogue in depth, so that this research is effective in uncovering magisterial teachings. Thus, the author will use a literature study through an in-depth study of official Church documents that explicitly and implicitly call for teachings on interreligious dialogue. The author will follow a framework that provides strong impetus for the Church's commitment and involvement in interreligious dialogue. The author hopes to find the main result of this research, namely the magisterial teachings on interreligious dialogue that are significant for realizing universal brotherhood. The author believes that an authentic attitude of peace through dialogue, one that does not exclude anyone, is a mission of the Church that must be upheld. Thus, the plan of God the Father, who calls all human beings to live as brothers and sisters, can be realized. All human beings are called to work together without violence and without deceit to build a world in the spirit of true peace.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6779 MENJADI MANUSIA YANG HUMANIS DI TENGAH KEBUDAYAAN MODERN DALAM PERSPEKTIF SOEDJATMOKO DAN NURCHOLISH MADJID 2026-07-21T06:46:09+00:00 Samuel Pella [email protected]
Modern times are marked by technological advances, globalization, and rapid economic development. These advances and developments threaten human values, such as dehumanization, individualism, and social inequality. In this context, Soedjatmoko dan Nurcholish Madjid offer a way of thinking that is important for the development of the whole person. This article aims to critically examine the views of these two thinkers, especially on humanism. Soedjatmoko emphasizes the importance of human centered development that leads to a more humanist education. Meanwhile, Nurcholish Madjid offers humanism based on responsible freedom. Through a qualitative approach and literature study, this article shows that both of them are focused on the same urgency of forming a more humanist human being. Thus, the thoughts of Soedjatmoko and Nurcholish Madjid can be an important contribution in building a complete humanitarian paradigm amid the challenges of modernity.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6780 “AJINING DIRI ONO ING LATHI” DAN ETIKA TUTUR KATA DALAM KITAB AMSAL 2026-07-21T06:57:39+00:00 Maria Goreti Windayani [email protected] Paskalis Edwin I Nyoman Paska [email protected]
Speech plays a central role in shaping character and sustaining social relationships within various wisdom traditions. In Javanese culture, the proverb “Ajining diri ono ing lathi” (“one’s dignity lies in one’s speech”) emphasizes that personal honor is determined by the ability to control and refine one’s words. Likewise, the Book of Proverbs (Prov 10:11; 15:2,4,7; 16:27–28) presents the tongue as an indicator of wisdom and of one’s relationship with God, grounded in the concept of the fear of the Lord. This study aims to examine comparatively and dialogically the ethical meaning of the Javanese proverb and the biblical teaching on speech in Proverbs, and to formulate its theological and pastoral implications for the Indonesian context. Employing a qualitative-descriptive method through literary analysis, this research integrates anthropological insights into Javanese ethics with exegetical-theological analysis of the wisdom text. The findings reveal a structural convergence in viewing speech as a pro-creative force that can either build or destroy communal life. However, their normative foundations differ: Javanese ethics emphasizes social harmony, while Proverbs grounds speech ethics in theological orientation toward God. An inculturative dialogue between these traditions enriches contextual theology and provides an ethical framework for character formation, evangelizing communication, and moral responsibility in contemporary public and digital spaces.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6782 SERUAN APOSTOLIK DILEXI TE PAUS LEO XIV KASIH ALLAH KEPADA KAUM PAPA-MISKIN, Roma, 04 Oktober 2025 2026-07-21T07:16:11+00:00 Alfonsus Ara [email protected] Antonius Moa [email protected] Surip Stanislaus [email protected]
Ngita [email protected] Gonti Simanullang [email protected] Asrot Purba [email protected]
Modern secularism has contributed to an anthropological reduction that separates the human person from transcendence, resulting in a growing crisis of human dignity, solidarity, and communal life. This article examines how the Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi Te” reconstructs theological anthropology through the love of Christ as the foundation for restoring human dignity amid the challenges of modern secularism. Employing a qualitative library research method, this study analyzes “Dilexi Te” in dialogue with Sacred Scripture, the Magisterium of the Church, the “Catechism of the Catholic Church”, and contemporary theological literature. The study argues that “Dilexi Te” offers more than a critique of secularism; it presents a theological reconstruction centered on the love of Christ. Christ's love restores the human person as the image of God, strengthens solidarity, and renews “communio” as the fundamental horizon of ecclesial and social life. Therefore, this study concludes that “Dilexi Te” makes a significant contribution to contemporary theological anthropology while providing a solid dogmatic foundation for the Church's evangelizing mission in the modern world.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6784 BERBAHAGIALAH YANG MENDERITA KARENA KRISTUS, 2026-07-21T08:05:07+00:00 Surip Stanislaus [email protected] Clinton Octavianus Silalahi [email protected]
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6785 MAKNA “SAHABAT” DALAM YOH 15:12-17 TINJAUAN SEMANTIK SECARA HISTORIS-KRITIS 2026-07-21T08:19:46+00:00 Frederick Ray Popo [email protected]
Many Catholics spontaneously refer to Jesus as “our Lord and friend” in their personal prayers. This intimate designation is inspired by John 15:12–17, where Jesus Himself calls His disciples “friends.” However, this raises a theological question: does calling Jesus a friend imply equality between humans and God? This article presents a historical-critical investigation into the meaning of the word philos (friend) in that pericope, by examining its conceptual background in Jewish and Greek thought during the time of Jesus. Semantic analysis reveals that friendship in John 15:12–17 is rooted in hesed (steadfast love), involves the notion of the friend as another self, yet remains asymmetrical and does not eliminate Jesus’ role as Lord. Friendship in the Gospel of John does not equate humans with Jesus but rather highlights the depth of His self-giving love. The implication is that believers should remain vigilant not to manipulate this intimate relationship to legitimize their personal will as divine will. This study acknowledges its limitations, especially in terms of not utilizing the original Hebrew and Greek languages in depth, and not exploring the meaning of “servant”—which Jesus contrasts with “friend”—in Jewish and Roman thought.
2026-07-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 https://ejournal.ust.ac.id/index.php/LOGOS/article/view/6786 “SATU MANUSIA BARU”: PARADIGMA TEOLOGIS REKONSILIASI DALAM EFESUS 2:11-22 BAGI MODERASI BERAGAMA DI INDONESIA 2026-07-21T08:29:49+00:00 Fransiskus Xaverius Marmidi [email protected] Higianes Indro Pandego [email protected] Yustinus Slamet Antono [email protected]
