Abstract

Skincare products play an important role in addressing various skin issues such as acne, dark spots, blackheads, and excess oil. However, in Batam City, the widespread circulation of skincare products without proper verification has caused trade problems and decreased consumer trust, necessitating a means to help consumers understand and select appropriate products. This study aims to design and develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based application on Android devices to introduce skincare products in an interactive and realistic manner. The methodology involves developing the application using the Unity platform and Vuforia Engine, employing marker-based AR technology that integrates 3D modeling of products along with information on their functions, usage instructions, and side effects, with markers on brochures or catalogs serving as triggers for display. The study’s outcome is an AR application that successfully presents 3D skincare product models accompanied by descriptive information, providing a more realistic visualization experience and supporting consumer understanding of skincare products in Batam City.
