PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS PESERTA DIDIK BERBANTUAN QUIZIZZ

This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on the critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Budi Murni 3 Medan. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an experimental class and a control class. The sample consisted of two classes, namely VIII-3 as the experimental group and VIII-1 as the control group, each comprising 30 students. A pretest was administered before the treatment to assess the students' initial critical thinking abilities. The results showed that students’ initial critical thinking skills were low, with both classes having normally distributed and homogeneous data. The experimental group received instruction using the CTL model, while the control group followed a conventional learning approach. Each group underwent two learning sessions. During the learning process, the researcher also utilized the digital evaluation platform Quizizz to enhance student motivation and engagement. After the treatment, a posttest was given to both groups using the same set of questions. Data analysis showed that the experimental group had a higher average score of 74.167 with a standard deviation of 20.004, compared to the control group's average score of 59.667 with a standard deviation of 15.553. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the CTL model, along with the use of Quizizz, has a positive effect on students' critical thinking skills.References
